  • Calibration is my core competency. I’m proficient in INCA and MDA, have experience with top level motorsports control systems, as well as most performance aftermarket products. I’ve worked on all types of engines, from naturally aspirated V8’s, to highly boosted 4 cylinders and small single cylinder and V-twin engines. I have thousands of hours of experience operating engine and chassis dynos. I’m adept with:

    • Base engine calibration. I/O configuration, airpath and fuel modeling, ignition control, variable camshaft control, etc.

    • Turbo and boost control. Fresh air anti-lag. Turbo speed control. Restricted and unrestricted systems.

    • Torque modeling. Traction and launch control.

    • Shift strategies. Shift cut control. Electronic differential control. Driveline releasers.

    • On the boundries: Cold start calibration, altitude and environmental compensations.

    • Engine protection. Knock control.

  • I’m just as comfortable working trackside as I am in the lab. I’ve done event support for the American Rally Association national championship, engineering development tests, automotive film production, and promotional events. United States passport holder - happy to travel.

    • Realtime data analysis. On-the fly calibration updates.

    • Collaboration with chassis and other systems engineers.

    • Assimilating driver feedback. Team and event debriefs.

    • Working in a large team. Helping load and unload rigs. Hands on cooperation with technicians.

  • Creating the competitive edge. Whether it’s performance, durability, or efficiency, I have experience creating and testing new designs from prototype to finished product.

    • Combustion system development - I have experience testing the boundaries of spark ignition engines. Compression ratio selection, evaluating port and chamber geometries, advanced ignition systems, dilute combustion systems and advanced control strategies.

    • Control system development. I’ve worked with tier 1 automotive control system suppliers to design and create engine control systems for unique project goals.

    • Product validation, designing, planning and executing rigorous testing programs.

    • Working with design engineers to create and revise component designs to reduce weight, cut costs, and maximize performance.

  • I can manage people, equipment, budgets, and schedules. I’ve had the privilege to lead excellent teams of engineers and technicians, and I’m proud of my ability to lead with humility and mutual respect. I can provide direction and stability to any team while accomplishing challenging goals together.

    • Managing large cross functional teams as well as small specialized teams of engineers.

    • Department budgets over $1 Million. Purchase order approvals, expense reports, equipment budgets, cost and labor forecasting.

  • Getting your signals from point A to point B and making sure you have the right gear to begin with. I can assist with wiring harness design and construction, as well selecting the right controllers, sensors, loggers and displays for any application.

Notable Projects

Powertrain Engineer responsible for development and testing, as well as traveling to Australia to supporting filming Hoonigan’s latest entry in the Gymkhana series. I was responsible for daily system checks, engine calibration, data review, gear ratio selection, spares kit preparation, and working with film production teams to prepare the car for unique stunts.
